Holiday Shopping Guide: Best Toys-to-Life Games Released in 2015

The toys-to-life genre has really taken off over the past year. 2015 is looking like the best year yet in terms of new videogames that take advantage of real-life figures. Below, you can find our list of the best toys-to-life games to buy on Black Friday or anytime during this holiday season.

Skylanders: Superchargers

The toys-to-life craze began with the Skylanders franchise. For this year’s installment, vehicles have been inserted into the mix, adding more variety to the already solid gameplay. Of course, all of your old figures will work in the new game as well. If you are interested, you can check out the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 starter packs with this link on Amazon.

Furthermore, Activision teamed up with Nintendo to create hybrid Amiibo/Skylanders figures for Bowser (via Skylanders SuperChargers Racing on the 3DS and Wii) and Donkey Kong (for the main game on the Wii U). You can check out the exclusive starter packs with the following pages: Skylanders SuperChargers for Wii U and Skylanders SuperChargers Racing for Wii/3DS. Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition

The long-time rival of the Skylanders franchise is Disney Infinity. For the third installment of the series, the user creation Toy Box aspects and combat elements have been improved upon. With this year’s focus being Star Wars to boot, Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition is easily the best toys-to-life game to be released in 2015.

You can purchase the starter pack for the Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3 with this link. You can also check out the PlayStation-exclusive Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition: Star Wars Saga Bundle, which comes bundled with the Star Wars Rise Against the Empire Play Set, here. Lego Dimensions

A new entry into the toys-to-life arms race is Lego Dimensions. The new intellectual property separates itself from the competition in that you have to physically build the Lego figures. Not to mentions that it also uses a diverse array of source materials, including Batman, Dr. Who, Jurassic Park, Simpsons and The Lego Movie. So, if you are looking for an unique twist to the formula, make sure to give Lego Dimensions a try.
