Are the official Fallout 4 strategy guides worth buying?

Bethesda is partnering with Prima Games to release three versions of the official Fallout 4 strategy guide. So are any of the variations worth purchasing? Before you decided on whether or not to buy the books, let’s take a look at some factors.

Pricing

Depending on whether or not you want the extras from the most expensive version, Fallout 4 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide can either be affordable or pricey. You can check out the current price tag for the three versions with the following links: Fallout 4 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide, Fallout 4 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide Collector’s Edition and Fallout 4 Ultimate Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide Bundle.

Coverage

All three guides will provide a complete walkthrough of Fallout 4. The upcoming sequel is similar to the two most recent installments in the series, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, in that you get to explore a massive open-world environment. The development team at Bethesda also added some new elements such as base building, crafting and dynamic dialogue.

The official guides will provide walkthroughs and detailed maps to get you through the numerous quests. Also included are data and specs for all the armor, creatures, items, perks and weapons appearing in the videogame. Last but not least, the books will have a full reference guide to building, crafting and upgrading.

Along with the physical release, all three versions come with a digital e-Guide, which has been optimized for smart phones and will have updated content.

If you are planning on buying Fallout 4 on the first day of availability and playing the open-world role-playing game to death, then you should definitely check out the books.

The Collector’s Edition

With a slight higher price tag when compared to the standard edition, the collector’s edition of the product comes with several bonuses. One of which is a world map showing off the massive environments in Fallout 4. The other is that is uses hardcover instead of paperback. Also included are seven lithographs, which are based on the perks.

If any of these extras sound interesting, then you should consider purchasing the collector’s edition over the standard one.

The Bundle

Of course, you may also want to check out the bundle as well, which comes with all of the collector’s edition content along with even more bonuses. The Fallout 4 Ultimate Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide Bundle has its own unique hardcover with an padded dust-jacket. It also comes with the following Nuka Cola collectibles: metal bottle opener, embroidered patch and five magnetic bottle caps. One last item in the bundle is The Art of Fallout 4 2015-2016 calendar.

So, if you don’t mind paying a higher price, you will get the most content with the Fallout 4 Ultimate Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide Bundle.Fallout 4 Ultimate Vault Dwellers Survival Guide Bundle

Recap

The official strategy guide is worth getting, especially if you are going to play latest Fallout installment as soon as possible as it will take some time for free comprehensive guides to show up online. This is especially true when you consider that the included digital guide will be updated with content in case there are any changes made post launch.

If you just want the guide, you can purchase the standard version with this link. If you are a collector, you may want to buy the collector’s edition or bundle instead (keep in mind that both of these will only be limited to one print run). You can do so with the following links: Fallout 4 Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide Collector’s Edition and Fallout 4 Ultimate Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide Bundle.

All three versions of the official Fallout 4 guide will be released on the same day as the videogame, which is slated to launch on November 10th in North America.
